5 out of 5 stars IS AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS   November 10, 2008

This telly is fantastic -I too thought 40 inch would be too big where my old 36inch cath ray went -in fact it takes up less room!!. Looks fantastic and in low light seems to float in the room -you soon get used to the big picture. Everyone who has seen it comments "Wish I`d bought that". With the Xbox attached you are in the games. John Lewis wanted 1500 for it -good delivery from Amazon -no problems. You can also plug your P.C. in it for a 40 inch monitor. Spend the money its worth it -you look at it 5 hours a day -stop looking, this is the one

Dont get this ZF model mixed up with the XF (they look idendical). This TV is superb in every way. Looks great when off and fantastic when on. At its best in HD.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent SD, Even better HD   September 2, 2008

After months of research I plumped for the 40ZF and cannot say I am dissapointed. The standard definition is superb (through Virgin media) with many channles appearing to be upscaled. The sound is astonishingly good considering the small speakers, indeed I was considering purchasing a seperate (Onkyo incidentally) AV reciever with 5.1 beforehand, however feel in no hurry to now.
The really outstanding aespect of this TV is its High Definition capabilities which I have enjoyed testing through BBC HD, FilmFlex HD and the xbox 360.
Overall thrilled with my purchase and would recommend to anyone.

5 out of 5 stars The Faultless LCD TV   July 7, 2008

Having "studied" the market for a few weeks in the early part of the year I decided that the 40ZF would be the ideal choice. I bought it at the beginning of May and have not changed my mind. On the contrary. I was wary due to the Which report last year putting Tosh in the "Don't Buy" category due to its poor standard TV picture. My 40 ZF is superb. I did have to reselect the standard TV channels as the autotune appears to go for the lowest channel number it can lock on to, in our case there are three BBC 1 and 2 channels of which the highest channel number is the best and produces an excellent picture. Is this why Which wrote it off?
I have also set the picture to my preference but this is a subjective assessment. The control is there to set up any colour mix, contrast, etc to suit the most discerning. Its tech spec is the tops and its appearence is even better. Well done Toshiba! We don't receive HD yet but can't imagine it can get much better than it already is. The plan is to get the FreeSat and a 5.1 wireless sound system eventually when prices stabilise. I'm in no hurry.
