Sound is dire December 9, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
As per other reviewers, I found the sound quality so bad as to be unacceptable. Also the video quality in low-ish light (indoors with reasonable lights on in the room) was very grainy.
That's it. End of review. I gave up and returned it for a refund.
not recomended November 17, 2008 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
Toshiba Camileo Pro Camcorder i bought this for my sister as a christmas present so she could film her three kids but i was dissapointed with the picture quality, and the sound in non existent. so dissapointed ive now got to send it back and look for another one. :-(
Nice Video, sound non-existent October 30, 2008 32 out of 32 found this review helpful
Great looking camera, great video performance, especially keeping in mind the price.
I was hoping that the previous review just got a dud, but it is true... If you want to hear ANYTHING on your recording your mouth has to be right on the microphone. And you have to shout. Not great if you want to record your baby's first words. Think 1920 silent movies. No connection for external microphone, so the problem is really not to be overcome.
1 star, even though the video quality is great, because who would want a camera that doesn't record sound?!
Toshiba Camileo Pro September 13, 2008 118 out of 119 found this review helpful
I purchased this with a view to making short clips and wanted a small light camcorder, Unfortunately the first one I bought would switch off it,s screen now and again, also had very poor sound, a new replacement camcorder was supplied by Amazon with no fuss, the new one works well picturewise and is easy to use with straightforward menus and a simple handy design, movie quality is reasonably good and one hour twenty two minutes can be recorded at high quality setting on a 2gb card bought seperately, the internal memory is tiny and not really any use. Unfortunately the sound level and quality is extremely poor on this camcorder as well, looks like this may be common to the range, in fact the sound is almost inaudible, very very poor microphone pickup. Overall the camcorder performs well and is good value for money, the issue with the audio really spoils it for me though.
