Excellent Tosh April 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hooked up to my Samsung provides stunning quality. Even comes with an HDMI cable and 2 HD-Dvd's. Standard DVD's are also given a new lease of life with the upscaling from this player.
Stunning upscaling, stunning player April 2, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I saw this for 59.00 (it's gone up again now, strange) and thought "what the heck" there's enough of a back catalogue of titles to justify a cheap purchase (and with the addition of two free films, this is an absolute steal!) What can I say? yes, it takes a while to boot up (but don't all Bluray/HD-DVD players?) but once it's running - WOW. The upscaling is the best I've seen....I watched a film last night and I kid you not, it was nigh on HD quality! superb. HD itself is amazing....the picture is incredible OK, so HD-DVD is dead, but heck, for this price and quality, you'd be a fool NOT to invest. Seriously impressed.
Sharkburger April 1, 2008 This machine is awesome! I have a dedicated cinema room with BluRay, and decided to buy this bargain as a dvd player in the lounge. It is simply spectacular. I will definitely be buying another one for my cinema and enjoy all it has to offer through the projector. Buy this now. You will not be disappointed.
Cheap but not much to watch March 27, 2008 2 out of 23 found this review helpful
I agree with the person below. It is unfair not to point out that HDDVD is the Betamax of the 21st century. Soon if not already they won't be making them and there won't be any new disks to play on them. Bluray is more expensive at the moment but it will get cheaper and what is even better you will be able to play new movies on them!
Very good value for money March 25, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was in two minds whether to buy this player given the recent news about Blu-ray winning the format war. But I needed to replace by old DVD player anyway and took the plunge,....I wasn't disappointed. The quality of the image playing HD-DVD's is excellent and up-scaled DVD's look as good as if they were played on a high end DVD player. The only downside is not being able to send the HD audio formats to an amplifier as a bitstream, but other than that for the price, you cannot fault this unit. Firmware upgrades were also very straight forward.
